The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a streamlined immigration pathway designed for skilled foreign workers and international graduates who wish to settle and work in one of Canada’s four Atlantic provinces:
New Brunswick
Newfoundland and Labrador
Nova Scotia
Prince Edward Island
Developed to address regional labor shortages and support economic growth, the AIP enables designated employers in these provinces to hire qualified candidates for roles they have been unable to fill with local talent.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the AIP, applicants must:
Have a valid job offer from a designated employer in an Atlantic province
Meet education and work experience requirements relevant to the job
Demonstrate proficiency in English or French
Intend to reside in the province that offers them the job
Program Benefits and Streams
One of the unique aspects of the AIP is its employer-driven model, which requires employers to assist newcomers with a personalized settlement plan. This plan ensures access to key support services, including:
Language training
Housing assistance
Employment support and community integration resources
The AIP includes three distinct streams:
Atlantic High-Skilled Program – for applicants with higher-level work experience and job offers
Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program – for those in jobs requiring a high school education and/or job-specific training
Atlantic International Graduate Program – for recent graduates from recognized Atlantic post-secondary institutions
Why Choose the AIP?
By offering a simplified immigration process and strong community support, the AIP helps newcomers integrate more effectively, while also contributing to the economic and social vitality of Atlantic Canada. It’s an ideal choice for individuals seeking long-term opportunities in a welcoming and community-focused environment.
