A student visa allows its holder to study at a higher education institution in the issuing country. Before applying for this visa, you must have been accepted for full-time study at a college or university. When submitting your application, you need to provide proof of enrollment and evidence of your financial ability to support your studies.
This visa typically permits you to stay in the country for the duration of your course and allows for multiple entries. Dependent family members may also receive visas to accompany you and can stay for the same length of time, but they must leave the country when you do.
Both you and your dependents may be granted permission to work while you study. Your individual circumstances must clearly demonstrate your genuine intent to study and temporarily reside in the destination country. Factors considered during the visa application assessment include:
Your personal circumstances in your home country
Your potential circumstances in the destination country
The relevance of the course to your future
Your immigration history
Any other relevant matters regarding your intention to remain abroad temporarily
If you are a minor, the intentions of your parent, legal guardian, or spouse will also be taken into account.
Financial Requirements
You must have sufficient funds to cover travel, tuition, and living expenses for yourself, your partner, and any dependent children for the duration of your studies. Additionally, you need enough financial resources to support your partner and dependent children.
Study & Internships
Internship programs are designed to provide foreign college and university students or recent graduates with exposure to international culture and hands-on experience in foreign business practices within their chosen fields.
Interns must be foreign nationals who are either:
Currently enrolled in and pursuing studies at a foreign degree- or certificate-granting post-secondary institution, or
Graduated from such an institution no more than 12 to 24 months prior to the start date of their internship program.
Practical Experience: This program bridges the gap between formal education and practical work experience.
This visa is intended for individuals from abroad who wish to enhance their occupational skills through training with an international organization. Eligibility for this visa may include:
Training or practical experience in the workplace necessary for obtaining registration in their occupation
A structured workplace training program to improve existing skills in an eligible occupation
Structured workplace training aimed at skill enhancement and capacity building overseas
Interns are generally prohibited from working in unskilled or casual labor positions, roles involving childcare or elder care, or any positions that require medical patient care or contact. Additionally, interns cannot engage in roles that involve more than 20 percent clerical or office support work.
This visa allows individuals to complete workplace-based training on a temporary basis, ensuring that the training provides additional or enhanced skills relevant to their occupations, tertiary studies, or fields of expertise.
